In May 2020, P&O Cruises will launch MS Iona, the largest cruise ship to serve UK travellers, with a 5,200-guest capacity. Families can look forward to a floating smorgasbord of restaurants and activities, with something for guests of all ages.

The new ship is buzzing with modern dining concepts like The Quays, a self-service market with a street food vibe that brings American, Asian, British, and Mediterranean cuisine onboard for quick snacks or relaxed dinners. Hit the top deck for artisan gelato by Snowflake that the whole family can enjoy after dinner. You can also indulge in gelato cakes, cookies, milkshakes, and a three-tiered afternoon tea.

The ship has entertainment programmes designed to keep kids from six months entertained all day. The Night Nursery allows parents to have a night to themselves at one of the exceptional restaurants or entertainment venues. Teens can seek refuge at Scene, the ship’s teen club. Families can catch a movie and tuck into popcorn at the Ocean Studios cineplex, or head to The Club House for a game night and family entertainment.

As for offshore fun, MS Iona will be heading to Norway on its initial launch, where guests will be led on exceptional nature excursions. Discover the Norwegian coastline through the Ålesund Sea-Park that consists of several glass screens so you can watch the sea life sans tanks. Then you can float through a fjord while hearing about the area’s history with the Seven Sisters in the background.

The ship’s autumn itinerary is set to explore the beautiful Spanish coastline. In Cadíz, zip between trees and complete obstacle courses at Entre Ramas Adventure Park for hours of fun. Later on the trip, you can visit Camp Nou, the stadium and home of FC Barcelona. Experience exploring the grounds of some of the most famous soccer players in the world and learn more about the team in the Barça Museum.

Iona is being built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg and will be launched in May 2020.
