Legend of the Seas offers 29 accommodation types, giving families plenty of choice whether they’re travelling with a toddler, teenagers or grandparents. Options range from inside cabins and balcony staterooms (bright, stylish, clever lighting) to spacious suites, making it easy to find something that suits both your group size and budget.

The standout option is the redesigned Ultimate Family Townhouse [below], Royal Caribbean’s flagship family suite. It spans two storeys and is the stuff of kids (and big kids’) fantasies: there’s a slide between levels, giant stuffed toys, an interactive games table, lights that look like beach balls, space-themed bunk beds, a popcorn maker and – if the bright colours inside overwhelm – big, beautiful, blue views over the wake of the ship.

A major bonus is its location next to Surfside, Legend’s dedicated family neighbourhood, so it’s perfectly placed for families with younger children who want quick access to the kid-friendly splash park, the family-focused restaurants (fancy lunch off a surfboard?) and myriad activities.

Families looking for a luxury cruise without going quite that far can book one of the Royal Suite Class accommodations within the four-deck Suite Neighbourhood. This exclusive area includes The Grove, a private suite sun deck with its own pool and whirlpool, plus Coastal Kitchen, an exclusive restaurant overlooking the AquaDome.

Families are at the heart of Legend of the Seas. Surfside has been created exclusively for families with young children, bringing together everything they need in one neighbourhood. Here you’ll find Splashaway Bay, Baby Bay and Water’s Edge pool.

There’s also a rubber duck-themed carousel, an arcade and family activities, including the Steel Pan Family Jam and family festival. Surfside Eatery, Surfside Bites and Pier 7 ensure food is always close by, while The Lemon Post serves separate menus for adults and children. Margarita for you, apple juice for them.

The Kids Club offering is particularly impressive. Adventure Ocean provides dedicated spaces for younger guests (starting from three years old), while teenagers have their own hangout at Social020 where they can game to their hearts’ content. There’s no set activity schedule as the team design the day around the children in attendance. Expect everything from talent shows, an Adventure Science Lab, sports tournaments and arts and crafts to dance parties, movie nights and cookie and sundae decorating.

Families travelling with babies haven’t been forgotten: Adventure Ocean also includes AO Babies for children aged six to 36 months. Plus, parents who want a little time to themselves can also make use of the Royal Babies & Tots drop-off nursery, available on select sailings for an additional hourly fee.

Together with sports courts, mini golf, an arcade and neighbourhood-wide activities, there’s plenty to keep children occupied throughout the day. If anything it’s the FOMO that will be the problem  – and that goes for parents too.

Entertainment on Legend of the Seas for families

Legend of the Seas’ headline production is Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, bringing the beloved story to the Royal Theater for the first time at sea. Two talented young actors share the starring role, while snazzy tech creates a fantastic stage set, complete with a glass elevator that flies above the audience. It’s all included in the fare, too, and it’s a night out to rival any London West End show (and the commute home is much more manageable).

Families can also watch America’s Got Talent LIVE, featuring performers from the global Got Talent franchise, including musicians, magicians, aerialists and acrobats.

The AquaTheater stages Shockwave, a mind-bogglingly impressive production combining high divers, aerialists, robots and dancers; it’s like nothing else you’ve seen on the seas, and possibly also on land. It’s like they’ve grown Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire levels of gills, as the lithe swimmers seem to completely disappear into the pool in between athletic and daring feats. Maybe not one to watch after a day of sunbathing and multiple trips to the buffet

At the other end of the ship, Absolute Zero, Royal Caribbean’s largest ice arena, hosts Fusion, a skating extravaganza with glamorous costumes and magnetic leaps and spins. Elsewhere, families can enjoy live music at Lou’s and Music Hall, Dueling Pianos, Spotlight Karaoke, laser tag, escape rooms, trivia, silent discos and sail away parties. Boredom here is simply not an option!

The entertainment programme also includes activities aimed specifically at children, including Duck Bash, Father Daughter Dance, Once Upon a Bedtime Story and larger-than-life family festivals.

Pools and outdoor spaces for families on Legend of the Seas

There are seven pools and 10 whirlpools across the ship, including Royal Bay, the largest pool at sea, alongside Cove Pool, Water’s Edge, Cloud 17 and the adults-only Hideaway with its suspended infinity pool and Swim & Tonic swim-up bar.

Children are likely to head straight for Splashaway Bay and Baby Bay, while older kids and teenagers will want to tackle Category 6, the largest waterpark at sea with six record-breaking slides (although some serious bravery might be needed for the drop slides!). Thrill Island also features Crown’s Edge, combining a skywalk, ropes course and thrill ride 154 feet above the ocean (an added extra but well worth it for the views and exhilaration) alongside the FlowRider surf simulator, Lost Dunes mini golf and Adrenaline Peak climbing wall.

Legend of the Seas offers more than 40 places to eat, drink and socialise, including 28 dining venues. Families have plenty of complimentary options, including Windjammer, the Dining Room, AquaDome Market, Surfside Eatery, Surfside Bites, Basecamp, El Loco Fresh, Park Café and Pearl Café.

For special occasions, there are several signature dining experiences, including Hollywoodland Supper Club, inspired by the golden age of cinema, and Royal Railway – Legend Station, where a five-course meal is paired with an immersive journey along the Silk Routes. Legend of the Seas itineraries 

Legend of the Seas is currently sailing seven-night Western Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona and Rome (Civitavecchia), visiting Palma de Mallorca, Provence (Marseille), La Spezia, Rome and Naples.

In November 2026, the ship moves to Fort Lauderdale for six-night Western Caribbean and eight-night Southern Caribbean sailings, with every Caribbean itinerary including a visit to Royal Caribbean’s very own tropical island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.
