Best Places for Family Groups in Europe

Last updated 3rd January 2017

Cass Chapman recommends the best places for large family groups to stay in Europe.

MULTI-FAMILIES HOLIDAYS ARE BECOMING REALLY POPULAR, BUT IF YOU’VE GOT A LARGE GROUP OF ADULTS AND CHILDREN OF DIFFERENT AGES, WHERE DO YOU LOOK? HERE’S OUR SUGGESTION FOR A BIG GROUP, WITH KIDS AGED THREE TO 13, WHERE YOU’LL BE BY THE COAST, HAVE A SWIMMING POOL, AND BE WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF A TOWN WITH FAMILY-FRIENDLY RESTAURANTS.

A:

Sardinia is a fantastic choice, thanks to its guaranteed sunshine, temperate water and gorgeous food, and Villa Elena in Porto Coda Cavallo is an excellent option. Just 180m from the sea and a stone’s throw from local grocery stores, restaurants, Salina Bamba beach, a diving centre and tennis courts, it comfortably sleeps 14 people in seven bedrooms. There are cots and high chairs for babies, bunk beds for older children, and bedrooms with sea views for parents. There’s also a swimming pool and an outdoor barbecue that’s ideal for al fresco family suppers.

Alternatively, Villa Gianluca in Sardinia’s San Teodoro region is an eight-bedroom beauty with sea views, a magnificent garden and a whirlpool. Conveniently located near Cala Suaraccia beach, local eateries, shops and tennis courts, there is as much to keep the family happy in the nearby town as there is within the immaculate grounds of this gorgeous property. Cots and high chairs are available, and you can even bring the family dog as it is pet-friendly.
