Welcoming families for more than four decades, Nettlecombe Farm is an award-winning working farm set in the heart of the Isle of Wight countryside and just a stone's throw from the quintessential village of Whitwell. The recent award for the Best Rural Tourism Business in the UK is testament to the farm's approach.
The site is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) enveloped by green fields and lakes, making it the perfect location for a morning stroll or soaking up the evening sun. The luxurious self-catering holiday accommodation is safe and comfortable for visitors of all ages and abilities.
The farm is a great base from which to explore various trails, as well as acting as a gateway to the island’s wider countryside, coastline and attractions. Explore Queen Victoria's country retreat at Osborne House, see where King Charles I was imprisoned at Carisbrooke Castle, or marvel at the spectacular Needles. Beaches are close by, from the dramatic shoreline at Compton, to sea, sand and amusements at Sandown and Shanklin.
The farm has lots of animals from sheep and goats to pigs, geese and chickens, as well as species of a more unusual variety, such as giant rabbits, Shetland ponies, alpacas, reindeer and even an emu. Farm feeding tours are also available.
Equipped with grassy play areas, toddlers' play equipment, a big Wendy house, a fabulous wooden tractor and a rustic climbing play facility, Nettlecombe Farm is ideal for active little ones. Additionally, there is a sports area, three fully-stocked fishing lakes and, in the converted barn, relaxing yoga and pilates sessions. The latest addition to the farm is an electric charging point for cars offered to guests for free as part of a scheme to encourage greener travel.
Each season offers a change to the landscape, making Nettlecombe Farm a year-round destination for a great family staycation.
